James Bonham

Bonham was a leader on some of Roanoke's best football teams.  He was an iron man on the gridiron.  He played every minute in 46 consecutvie games when he split time at center, guard, tackle, and fullback. 

He was the captain of the 1915 state championship team and was named All-South Atlantic first-team by the Washington Post that same year.  Bonham also earned varsity letters in basketball, baseball, tennis, and track and field. 

The 1916 basketball team also won the state championship and finished the season undefeated.
