Brillheart was, in the words of the day, "...a commercial student and baseball player in the role of pitcher." He won a letter for his contribution to the 1920 team and then withdrew from college and played professional ball.

He pitched two seasons for the Washington Athletics, one year for the Chicago Cubs and one year for Boston.  During his big league career the southpaw hurler recorded eight wins, nine losses, and one save.

He started 23 games, went the distance in seven of them and overall pitched in 86 games.  Some of his other stats include: 287 innings pitched, 314 hits, 137 walks, and 98 strikeouts.  His lifetime ERA was 4.09.

At the plate, "Buck" went right-handed, and like many other pitchers, didn't have a lot of luck. In 86 at bats, he collected six hits, including one homerun.
