RC’s first professional athletic trainer, Buriak designed and implemented new programs and used his experience and skills to bring the College up to speed in the area of sports medicine.
He single-handedly designed and implemented the sports medicine major - a program which prepares students for the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Certification. Through this program, Buriak has created a ready and well-trained staff of students to assist RC athletes at both home and away games.
Buriak also designed the Athletic Training Room in the Bast Center, which provides quality care for all RC athletes. He has a selfless work ethic and has seen that Roanoke athletes are healthy and prepared.
In his 28 years in Salem, he has left an unmatched legacy of care and concern at Roanoke College.
